Everything was well thought out, including a plan b because of the weather . Art has always been a part of my life , from broken up pieces of crayons and making a mess in the living room with colors I was privileged enough follow it to a stage in my life where I know it's purpose in my life and in the whole world itself. I have done works in many mediums, I have been learning watercolor for the last ten years or so. Watercolor is a medium that's brings a certain level of satisfaction in one's work. My previous experiences includes working as art teacher where I helped students to tailor their individualistic take on artistic practices and expression. One experiences ebb and flow with art, it's never a constant straight path but if we push it through it's like unlocking a language for yourself.

This was in the SAA magazine as a challenge and I just loved the photo. I couldn?t follow the step by step guide as I only use watercolour and it is very far from subjects I usually choose to paint. Nevertheless,I thoroughly enjoyed painting this fellow and I am quite pleased with the results.

I am trying to paint in watercolour without doing to much drawing first. I was pleased with this attempt. My Dad used to grow lovely roses and Sweer Williams. He always gave Mum red roses on her birthday or wedding anniversary. Sadly they both died a few years ago but painting these flowers brought back happy memories.

I painted a wash of greys and a little brown. I used my brush to outline the elephant with negative painting. I used a stencil and watercolour pencil sanded over it to make the bush areas. Starting at the eyes helps with measuring the position of other parts of the elephant.

I painted this for a challenge posted on the Art by Paul Clark FB group page. The reference photo was taken in Devonshire, England. I used a Bee Paper sketchbook and miscellaneous paints. I?ve been working on learning dry brush technique in watercolor for a while I I think I?ve finally mastered it as evidence by the trees in this one.
